Welcome to the University Women of Flagler website!
University Women of Flagler (UWF) is a non-profit organization comprised of college-educated women committed to helping women in Flagler County achieve their goals for higher education. Since our inception in 2006, and as of May 2024, we have presented 116 scholarships to local women totaling over $182,250. Many of these women have completed college and are now making meaningful contributions to our community and within our society.
In 2023, we were pleased to establish an endowment of a scholarship at Daytona State College to be awarded to a mature student (22 years of age or older). This endowment will be offered yearly through the Daytona Sate College Foundation. There are many in our community who benefit from the support of the University Women of Flagler. Over the years, UWF has contributed to Florida’s pre-paid scholarship program, Take Stock in Children (administered by the Flagler County Education Foundation), which is designed to encourage at-risk students to make the most of their time in school. As part of this program, UWF has provided funds which are matched by the state, and our members have shared their love of learning by mentoring students. UWF has also donated to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which supplies free books monthly to children in Flagler from birth to five years of age. This program opens the doors to reading and learning at an early age. Locally, this program is managed by the Early Learning Coalition of Flagler and Volusia. In addition, UWF assisted Daytona State College with its Helping Hands program. UWF has also given grants to Habitat for Humanity and to The Family Life Center to assist their clients in meeting their educational goals.
Each month from September to May, UWF members meet to plan activities, enhance our own knowledge, discuss a new book, and explore cultural opportunities in our community. A guest speaker at the general meetings addresses the members on a topic of interest.
There are many ways to be involved - just choose an interest group, attend one of our events, or volunteer to assist with a fundraiser. There is always something engaging taking place and an opportunity to connect with women who are enjoying life and making positive contributions to society.
Join us and help make a difference in our community. UWF will give you opportunities to flourish, share your talents, and develop new friendships.
We look forward to meeting you!
With kind regards, Robin Hall & Trish Le Net, Co-Presidents
