Dedicated to advancing educational opportunities for women, the University Women of Flagler (UWF) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization established in 2006. UWF is proud to help the young women of Flagler County achieve their full potential. Scholarships are funded through donations, fundraising events and sponsorships. All proceeds earned through these efforts go to the Scholarship Fund.
UWF has awarded scholarships to Flagler County high school graduates who are continuing their education in four-year Colleges. The scholarships range from $500 to $3000. Non-traditional student grants of between $500 and $1000 are available to local programs for adults returning to the workforce. We are so happy to announce this year's 2025 Scholarship recipients, who were notified and awarded their scholarships on the evenings of May 7th and 8th:
Angelina Manjarres of Flagler Palm Coast Hight School
Paige Brammer of Saint Joseph's Academy
Miranda Spencer of Flagler Palm Coast High School
Kayla Effert of Flagler Palm Coast High School
Caroline DiCicco of Matanzas High School
Their photos from the Scholarship Luncheon and the Scholarship Committee presenting the awards are in the Gallery.
Each year, UWF sponsors one young student in the Take Stock in Children initiative which matches funds provided by the State. It is administered by the Flagler County Education Foundation. In addition, UWF supports the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Flagler County. Every child who is enrolled in this program from birth to age 5 receives by mail a free age-appropriate book every month. In 2023, we were pleased to be able to endow a scholarship at Daytona State College, which will provide a mature student (22 years of age or older) with a $750 scholarship each year in perpetuity.
UWF's focus on education and empowerment of young women is both fulfilling and motivating for all our members as well as a source of new members as we expand. To find out more about joining us, click here.
